Forms are available at Police Headquarters or in PDF format and require contact information for the owner of the property or business as well as contact information for alternate emergency key holders that can be contacted in case the owner cannot be reached. Alarms must be programmed to reset within fifteen (15) minutes of an activation. See below for more information about how to register your alarm.
After three (3) false alarms are received within a twelve 12 month period a written warning will be sent to the alarm owner or property owner. There are a few common types of alarms in Green Brook Township, the most common is the Central Station or Third Party alarm. This alarm is hooked up to a third party monitoring company that charges a monthly or annual fee for monitoring services. Once an alarm is activated the alarm communicator contacts a company via a phone line. This company then looks up the account information and is suppose to contact the appropriate jurisdiction where the alarm is located. These Central Station alarms must be registered with the Green Brook Police. Forms for registering are available at Police Headquarters or here in PDF format. If you choose to download this form you will need Adobe Acrobat 5.0 or later. Print this form, fill it out and drop it off at the front desk at Police Headquarters.
Another type of alarm is a digital alarm. This type of alarm is hooked up directly to Green Brook Police Headquarters. Once a Digital alarm is activated, the alarm communicator contacts the Green Brook Police Department's digital alarm system directly and the account information is retrieved by a police dispatcher who dispatches the appropriate services to the location of the alarm depending on the type of alarm; burglar/intrusion, fire, medical, panic/holdup. There is a fee of $120 a year for this alarm monitoring service. There are no other hook up fees or hidden costs. You may contact this department for more information. You may pick up a Digital Alarm registration form at Police headquarters or download the PDF file here.
The Local alarm is an alarm that is not hooked up directly to monitoring service. This alarm upon activation, triggers an outside audible devise like a whistle or siren and depends on a neighbor or other person to contact the Police department. These alarms are not as effective and can be annoying to your neighbors. These alarms must also be registered with this department.
